I seriously want to hurl when I read carp like this. I have a severely disabled son who lives in an assisted living center. Both my husband and I work hard, and realize that the REAL reason for the "safety net" is to support those who truly can't help themselves, not the goldbricks who WON'T. As for what happens to Down's Syndrome and others when their parents die? Ever heard of group homes? Zinj? And what should happen to a child who's disability doesn't occur (or manifest itself) until well after birth? I guess in your eyes we should have taken our son out to some isolated spot, tied him in a sack and thrown him in the creek.
If your attitude is typical, I'm afraid we've already reached the tipping point!
