Maybe I'm just out of touch, but I don't remember ANY such excuse-making for a poor presentation in a Republican response to a SOTU. In fact, I remember Bobby Jindal being just as uninspiring in 2009 as Marco Rubio was. The sad fact is, our "heros" are letdowns. And I see no difference between Obama's, Rubio's, and Paul's unanimous consensus that the federal government's destructive, unconstitutional involvement in education must somehow be escalated. How can ANY federal politician call themselves a conservative and advocate for education policy? If they can't comprehend the fact that education is strictly a state and local issue, they have not passed the simplest, most basic litmus test for being a constitutional conservative.
