What about Robespierre are we supposed to remember? The fact that he believed his personal opposition to the death penalty was irrelevant, since as a government official his job was to represent the people? I believe we want that out of our leaders. Or did you mean the Terror, which was the creation of Carnot, who duped Robespierre into believing it was the will of the people—because he needed Robespierre's perceived moral authority to get the people to go along with it? Do you actually know anything about the French Revolution?
