The "Right to work" bill would probably not have gone through in Michigan had the unions not gotten greedy and put a prop on the November 2012 ballot to basically ban right to work in spite of a warning from the Governor that it would work against unions. The prop was soundly defeated and shortly afterward Right to Work became law. Unions 0-Michigan 1. Unions threatened the Governor and Legislators, showed their true colors in violence and it still became law. Now maybe Michigan can begin to pull itself up by its bootstraps.
