1. Electric cars will only replace gasoline cars when they are as powerful, efficient, and cost-effective. The press has been saying for 100 years now that electric cars will replace gasoline cars - hasn't happened yet.
2. The infrastructure to support the gasoline car has been in place for over 100 years, and cannot be dismantled overnight. Likewise, the infrastructure to support the electric car will not appear overnight.
3. Putting more electric cars on the road means an additional burden on a power grid that is already being pushed to its limits, yet the Obama administration is determined to shut down every non-"green" power plant in the country. Increasing the demand for electricity while shutting down power plants is not smart.
