On the question of congressional salaries well they shouldn't be anymore than the average salary for an American worker. The senate can make about 10k more than the house and the president and the vp get about 10k more than the senate. Politicians elected on the federal level may receive no other income while in office period, no speaking fees, no book revenues no outside revenues. If caught deferring fees then they are summarily removed from office. No pensions after leaving office unless they hold the office for 20 years. The idea is they get a raise in pay when we do.
