Sometimes it's the messenger, sometimes it's the message. The country has changed since 1980. If we could find another Reagan, someone able to circumvent the kept media and say convincingly, unapologetically that we can be strong, safe, and prosperous again, he'd lose. If he won, he'd be stymied. Government employees and dependents are an electoral majority, and they don't want to hear that message. Of course, we can never be strong, safe, or prosperous again till we cut government debt, spending, and overreaching drastically and (in the short term) painfully. No one wants to hear that message. So anyone who tries, however timidly, to be a grownup will accomplish nothing. Only collapse will bring the country to its senses -- too late.
