French elections are fairly secure. To vote you are required to show your national id card and also your carte electorale. The carte electorale is sent at the beginning of the year when there is a vote and is a little paper booklet that gets a hole punched after you vote to show you voted, show up without those 2 things and you can't vote. Non citizens are not allowed to vote and the French, including my wife wonder why the US doesn't have a requirement to show id to vote.
