The root of this, of course, is that we have declared that we will not accept God's authority over us. I am not speaking about being religious; I am speaking about opening and maintaining a living, working relationship and fellowship with God, in which He tells us what we are do do and we do it, and enjoy fellowship with Him. That rejection of God's authority was at the core of the poison of the 1960s, and many folks swallowed it whole. What they didn't realize was that they were not pushing away an "old man" who was "irrelevant"; they were cutting off the source of life.
