Those of us who live in south La share diverse cultures. We are considered backward rednecks with cable tv shows encouraging the stereotypes. But Torres is like many of us. We dont just live in one of the most beautiful states, we love the land as well. We share life with the "paradise" we have been given. We care for our environment and do our best to protect it. We also have learned over generations how to survive in this environment since our people came here in 1751. We could indeed, like Torres, live off the land, survive like our ancestors through hard work and self sufficiency. It is why we are dumbfounded by the entitlement society around us. It is totally forgeign to all that is part of our culture.
