There are definite benefits to having SRO (School Resource Officers) inside schools on a day to day basis. However, the schools themselves need to completely modernize their reactions to violent intruders based on the data and behavior displayed in these recent events. The statistics show that in these kind of gun situations police officers, trained and practiced law officials, have a hit to shot ratio of 3 out of ten. These dangerous people have a record of about nine out of ten, seven to eight out of those will be lethal because the people are standing still because they don't know how to react. Etc. Etc. There also needs to be a healthy debate and subsequent update about the care and placement of those with mental illnesses.
