Our mailman smelled gas in our yard and we found we has a gas leak. Another mailman I know checked on an elderly ladies furnace and since she was in a wheelchair suggested she have a ramp built so she could get out of the house quickly in case of fire. She had one built and her out of state daughter thanked him for looking out for her. He went to the funeral home when she died. They do have good pay and benefits but then they walk 8 miles a day in blazing heat, freezing cold and pouring rain. They have back and knee problems. Would a private company deliver a letter by plane to a remote area for a reasonable price? I think not. Maybe in a generation the USPS will be gone but right now not everyone wants to do financial transactions
