Ronald Reagan was a trained actor and had great charisma. He came off as presidential He was amiable, and not a dunce; he had humor and good looks even at his advanced age, and was articulate in reading his notes (no prompter then?). McCain and Romney sorely lacked those qualities, with McCain's bad temperament and Romney's robotic stiffness. Obama is charismatic, the kind of person who can spin hope and make people believe it even though deep down he had to have known of the obstacles he would face and the fate of the economy handed to him..
