I thought at the time, that the cave on the fiscal cliff deal by Republicans to the Democrats' demands would be a final straw for conservatives and Republicans alike. I'm still not sure that such isn't the case.
I was skeptical about the Republicans holding firm on the debt ceiling issue and with good reason. Cave number two, my confidence was waning. Now, however, we see a real opportunity for the Republicans to get meaningful restraints in spending and debt.
Do I see that happening? Hell no, there are no brave hearts in the Republican establishment. All of which comes back to my first hypothesis. I do think that conservatives and Republicans are fed up. It's just that the establishmentarians are too dense to realize it.
