I don't favor a ban on machine guns. In fact, when congress passed the NFA of 1934, they did not ban machine guns, they put a $200 tax on them. It was Bush 41 who banned the manufacture of new machine guns by executive order. Why did congress not ban them in 1934? Because they realized they had no constitutional authority to do so. Nothing has changed. If a citizen can be trusted with a single-shot .22 rifle, they can be trusted with a machine gun. Either can kill. As can steak knives, baseball bats, gasoline, cars, etc.
