What this columnist calls "public assaults" is nothing more than exercising freedom of speech.
She says gays and women should "form their own private organizations." Of course they DO -- is she living under a rock? The issue with the Boy Scouts is that when the Supreme Court ruled that the Scouts is a private organization, it was anything BUT private. It held its meetings in public buildings, its annual jamboree on a military base, and the president of the United States was its honorary chairman.
If the court cases against the Scouts' anti-gay policies had been about race instead of sexual orientation, I can almost GUARANTEE the court would have ruled that it's a "public accommodation," not a private organization.
