Because NRA-members are compliant and docile - while the violent criminals are mean, scary, and belligerent. If we can eliminate all armed opposition for the criminals, then maybe they would consider being more gentle and merciful - as they rob, rape, assault, and murder, the defenseless innocent. Well, we can at least hope that they would consider it. And it IS all about hope - right?
