Poverty has NEVER been a cause of crime outside of Les Miserables. In the Depression most of the crime was committed by gangsters or "motor bandits" like Capone or the Parker/Barrow Gang. In 1929 we had zero restrictions on full auto weapons and they were cheap. A Thompson M1927 (Tommy Gun) cost $25 new and aboiut $15 used. Any schoolkid with the cash could order a surplus Vickers .303 caliber machine gun effective to 2,000 yards by MAIL with no questions. It has NEVER been the guns or poverty it IS values.
