My union experience taught me that ardent union members possess the attitude that no matter what they are paid, it isn't enough. They fail to face the fact they are the highest paid, for thier trade, in the nation. I can remember in the early '70's, when the minimum was was raised (it was still 3 times less than union unskilled labor was getting) you would have thought the union was being robbed at gunpoint. They also failed to realize their bloated wages did not necessarily "pull up" non-union wages, it made it difficult for all but union members to afford products and services across the board.
