My preference is for a tax on sales and not income. With the tax on sales, I control how much that I pay based on my own frugality. And if I am economical with my pay, I can actually put more into savings and investments. The ability to create wealth, and hence jobs, comes to us faster when we are NOT taxed on our productivity, as measured by our income. I would also advocate for the elimination of corporate taxes which are never paid for by the corporation...there are merely the mechanism for collection of taxes by the government that are passed onto and paid by customers in the form of higher cost. A sales tax is also beneficial because everyone pays...there is no dead weight in the system.
