Amen! It seems like we routinely demand far better performance from todays fledgling possible Democracies than we ever managed ourselves, and at the first sign of failure we throw up our hands, say "They're Islamists!" and give up.
We need to stay in there, stay engaged, and try to encourage the growth of democracy any way we can. The Iranians aren't giving up pushing the Islamofascist line. We should champion our own values, if we really value them in the first place.
