The one main criticism of home schooling, is the main attribute, limited interaction with other children. Most of the boys I knew in school had dirty minds, liked dirty jokes, and had little respect for authority, although they pretended to. When left alone, the true nature came out. I did not want my kids exposed to the seedy side of life in a closed environment. It is one thing to pass it on the street and quite another not to be able to get away from it. The home schooling convention I observed in Shreveport was an amazing gathering of well-disciplined, clean, well-mannered parents and kids, both white and black. The atmosphere was one of supreme moral decency and self-discipline as well as great academic achievement.
