"Assault rifle" = a small-caliber rifle (too low-powered to hunt deer with in many states), that has scary, "tacti-cool" cosmetic features. But when gun owners take the scary cosmetic features out by painting them bright pink and putting a Hello Kitty logo on them the hoplophobes complain about that too.
