Honestly Hugh, I don't understand this push by conservatives for immigration reform. I understand the left's desire for it, but not the rights. Visit any birder state, most people other than Latinos simply want a secure border. Ending anchor babies would be nice, but first secure the border. What benefit does immigration reform have for the economy or the middle class? I have yet to hear a coherent argument. You state in your column the absolute necessity for a secure border, so why not achieve that in a singular bill, use the commission you're fond of to gauge results, and then we can figure out what to do with the illegals.
