Let's be clear here. It's the city of Chicago that runs the state government in Springfield. Once you cross Interstate-80 heading south, it becomes a whole different state. The real power brokers are the mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel , the Speaker of the Illinois House, Michael Madigan, and Madigan's daughter Lisa, who magically landed the job of State Attorney General. Governor Quinn wields some power (unfortunately), but his influence is limited by the previously mentioned clowns who all rule the Chicago way.
Illinois should be divided up into two states with the border at I-80. That way, the rest of us could live our lives without the constant stream of goofiness that skulks down from Chicago to contaminate the land.
