By their dim lights, they couldn't have done anything else. A real investigation, one involving GEN Ham, ADM Gaouette, and the Benghazi survivors, would lead either to stonewalling, subpoenas, contempt citations, litigation, and a Constitutional crisis or to information so damning that the House would have to impeach Obama. Many legislators, staffers, diplomats, White House employees, senior officers, and others in government would be ruined along the way. There would be riots, and if Obama tried to use the armed forces to shore up his crumbling regime, there'd be a coup d'état. So a few politicians squawked long enough to get some sound bites, then went back to what they're good at: taxing, spending, and fondling interns.
