It's true that jobs and the economy are by far the biggest issues to the American people. I haven't heard anything from either party that addresses the issue. HP wanted to get a toehold in China. They bought 3Com a networking hardware company who shipped over most of it's operations there. However most of what the produced was sold there which is almost unheard of. Both companies are international in scope and had to go through a regulatory process. America signed off immediately with no thought of the American workers at 3Com. Europe took longer because they have to give workers away to readjust. China was the last holdout - HP had to guarantee that none of 3om's 35,000 Chinese workers would lose their jobs.
