An IQ number means little to a person who has a small one. Why is everyone so hot to discount IQ numbers? We do not deprecate the ability to throw a football or sing or paint or mesmerize a crowd with meaningless blather at an inauguration ceremony. Granted, IQ is not the only talent there is, nor the most important one, nor even the most significant determinant of success (salesmanship apparently is). But it is an important talent and people who have it have made important contributions. As a former "bright" kid (nerd) who was mercilessly tormented by the "jocks", I am tired of the attitude.
