This is what happens when you elect an extreme ideologue to high office. In the past, presidents (even to some degree Bill Clinton) recognized that we are all free to think what we want. Whether we agree or not on politics and policy, we are all Americans sharing many of the same goals, hopes, and dreams. During presidential inaugural addresses, past presidents have made it a point to show that despite their own political beliefs, they occupied an office that belonged not to them, but to the American people - all of them. Not so 0. In the mind of a political extremist there are only two kinds of people; those who follow, and enemies who must be destroyed. It has always been so.
