Maybe you should reread the article. The point of it, and which most here agree, is that Boehner handled this ineptly. The left wants to demonize the 'rich' while protecting the 'middle class'. If taxes went up on everyone, there would be a lot more clamoring, and the new congress would have had to address the situation, and we could have negotiated from a position of power. Boehner however gave in to the manufactured crisis of a false deadline (which had only been looming for over a YEAR) and passed a bad bill against the wishes of his party. And now he regrets it. And why did he do this? So that revenues would be off the table and we could tackle spending. And then he suspended the debt ceiling. Bravo.
