A "dirty little secret" is that the DOMESTIC gun manufacturers were successful in having a provision inserted into the ORIGINAL "assault weapons ban" that prohibited the importation of foreign-made weapons that were of excellent quality but not made here. No more FN-FALs, Galils or HK-91s that did not have a certain number of "U.S. made parts" (see 922c). This importation ban is still in effect. In fact, Bill Ruger PUSHED for a magazine capacity limit. It seems that the domestic gun manufacturers had their own "self-interests" in direct conflict with the Constitution.
