Be aware of this "gunshow loophole," universal background check canard that is being banded about. First, there is no "gunshow loophole". If one is a licienced firearms dealer they must run a background check when selling a weapon no matter where the sale takes place. When an unlicienced private individual sells a weapon a background check is not required no matter where the sale takes place. If I want to sell a gun to my neighbor I don't do a background check. Even if I tried I could not do it because I am not allowed to get certain private information from him. If I go to a gun show to sell my gun as a private citizen the same applies as to my not having a right to obtain private information from whomever buys my gun.
