Standards are not our immediate concern. Our biggest problem in education today concerns teachers. Our Colleges of Education are churning out thousands of "teachers" who know how to use the latest technology, and who can quote educational theory, but who cannot teach. Plain and simple, they cannot teach. No one ever taught them how to teach. Study after study shows the most significant factor in classroom learning is classroom management. Not computers. Not iPads. Not new standards. Not testing. Not teachers with Masters Degrees. Classroom management. Unfortunately, there are very few Colleges of Education teaching this.
