Give Olsen a break here, I think that Olsen is reluctant to swap out one politically motivated tract for another for children in this age group, therefore his judicious words. When I went to school we first studied ancient history to learn about the Greeks and democracy in primary school. In middle school we learned U.S. history up til's the 20'th century. It wasn't until high school where we tackled modern world history where we would discuss the Israeli Palestinian conflict, the Soviet Union, the Iranian revolution, etc. Some may laugh at this slow progress but at least we were not being inculcated in a teachers political view points until we were of an age to have at least some ability to be skeptical.
