I teach at a high performing school in a wealthy suburb of San Diego where we consistently score in the top 10% of the state. We've been spending the last 6 months looking at the Common Core Standards and figuring out how to continue to adhere to our high standards. It is very distressing to see what has happened to public school in the last ten years. We are producing a generation of students who are good at taking tests, but terrible at critical thinking and problem solving. We are told Common Core addresses this problem, but I don't see how!
