Who said anything about the National Guard? In early American history citizens often formed militias or armies to protect their communities form attacks by the British or the Indians. The local militia is who Paul Revere and William Dawes were seeking to rally with their epic ride. In the movie “Red Dawn” citizens use their private weapons to form an armed resistance. If the people are denied the right to keep and bear arms the ability to form a well regulated militia is frustrated and the state or locality is no longer secure or free.
