Dr. Sowell has once again hit the nail on the head. It is impossible to have a debate with anyone when there is a refusal to ignore the facts. We have, by and large, become a "dumb" society who doesn't care to be confused by the facts. Some of the prevailing myths in society include the idea that spending more on education will produce better results, that spending more on welfare will eliminate poverty, that extending unemployment benefits boosts the economy, and that climate change is all mankind's fault. I place part of the fault at the feet of parents, who have failed for at least a generation to allow little Johnny and little Debbie to fail on their own and to grow up actually doing something.
