Eric, in appealing to this expert, you note his conversion from skepticism as part of your argument. As such, his conversion is irrelevant. He is also fallible and there are a number of equally prominent scientists who disagree with him. His conversion sets up the straw man portion of the argument suggesting that his conversion should sway me. His status as an expert is also supposed to sway me. Neither does as both represent logical fallacies.
