I can recall the Fifties. Golden age of morality? They were a cesspool. You could kill a black man or rape a black woman with total impunity over much of the country. You didn't hear that much about child sex abuse because the kids knew enough to keep quiet and the adults were too afraid to take their sides. You didn't hear that much about rape because rape victims knew perfectly well what would happen to them in court. And we had prayer in school. Just enough to convince Americans that the hollow shell they called religion was enough to placate God. Christianity is not under attack. It is under judgement. Calling it a whitewashed tomb is an insult to whitewashed tombs. And I'm talking about so-called "born again" Christianity.
