A few minor corrections: first, liberals feel; conservatives think. I think a lot of patriots would be ok with local governments assisting in providing food and shelter for those who can't provide it for themselves; a county poor house or poor farm, for example, where people can get food, shelter, and advice on how to get on their feet. What patriots oppose so strongly is federal involvement in this, because (among other reasons) decades of experience have proven that the effect of the federal government has been to create a massive parasite class, with politicians essentially buying votes; the $16T debt we have came as a result of that, and that's a lot of money for our children to have to owe just so Obama and his ilk can get elected.
