There is a disconnect in some social conservatives' minds that misses two points of the social liberalism argument.
1) We're not saying your social sensibilities are wrong; just saying that the government has no moral obligation or Constitutional authority to enforce morals, and has a really bad track record when trying to do so.
2) If you insist on the right to impose morals on other thru government orders, by what logic can you argue against the liberals when they are in power and impose THEIR morals, or lack thereof, on you?
Take abortion. Had the government left the issue alone, i.e. between woman and doctor, then we would not be in the spectacle where not only is abortion legality written into law, but many are taxpayer funded!
