Yes there are many untended consequences as well as intended ones. Intended consequences include tens of billions of dollars to the DEA etc and more to the state and federal prison systems. The large majority in prison today are there because of drug laws that didn't exist 100 years ago. Another consequence is keeping street prices high enough to make trafficking very lucrative so lucrative that violence has become part of that culture. While I have some sympathy for users I have a lot more sympathy for those innocent victims of that violence. Just as prohibition did not work and caused a whole class of organized crime and those unintended consequences , corruption, murder etc etc so does current day drug law. Same goes for Guns
