Why do parents grieve the loss of a child? Because IT HURTS! It hurts badly. Humans cry, wail, and grieve when they are in pain! People offer plenty of things to say after such a loss, but speaking as a mother who has buried a child, the only proper thing to say is "I am so sorry for what happened. You must be in terrible pain. Please tell me how I can help you through this." After the loss of our son, my husband were in pain, enormous pain. But after the acute pain subsided, it was our Christian faith that ultimately healed that pain.
