When I was very young, I remember kids at recess (remeber those?) using rocks and nails to explode caps from a cap gun. Something that would definitely get them expelled now. In high school, it was quite regular for young men to arrive at school from hunting. Their shotguns were either in the trunk or some still hung from the gun rack in the back of the pick-up truck cab. I also took a course in high school that specifically addressed proper handling of firearms. Upon completion of the course, we were given a certificate that we would then present to receive out hunting licenses, showing that we knew how to properly handle firearms.
