Enrique Krauze's new book, "The Redeemers", chronicles the intellectual and political life of Latin America from the late 19th Century to the present. I had no idea that the US was viewed so negatively and fearfully by countries south of us after the Spanish American war. They viewed the US as an empire intent on imposing itself on the world. Since the Soviet's demise many have awakened to the reality that socialism/communism doesn't work. However, if Latin America has this view, how about Indonesia where Obama lived in his formative years? It confirms what D'Souza concluded about the president several years ago, that he is determined to destroy the US. (Chavez used Bolivar as his 'past self' and Obama is now using Lincoln.)
