What will come next? Think about what's happening in every part of the economy OTHER than government. Tasks and decision-making are becoming more decentralized. People work in temporary or ad hoc formations. Technology is being used to gauge results -- quickly rejecting failures and adopting successes. For people employed in the private sector, the percentage of income that is tied to performance of some kind (commissions, piece-work, bonuses, stock-options) has been increasing for decades. Government is the only sector that insists on things being done by HUGE bureaucracies and big committees.Government is the only sector that perpetuates activities that don't produce. Government is always a lagging indicator.
