The problem with your thought---which taken to its logical conclusion would be "lets tax even more" is that the money is going to pay for more and more government and more and more free-loaders on the system. This means, less money going to the private sector, which is the actual sector that makes money for all of us. If you tax something more, you get less of it....and that is what happens. Just look at all those wonderful EU countries that tax the hell out of everyone, somehow, strangely, fewer and fewer people have jobs. If that big-screen TV is "too expensive" relative to the money I have on hand, I won't buy it. Will you?
