Of course Borlaug was credited with saving some billion people from starvation and transformed India into a net exporter of grain. Correlations also suggest the impact on Indian society was far more than just grain output, education and in particular women's education and literacy grew at an amazing rate. But for the environmentalists the devastating impact of pollutive chemicals on the "environment" we're far more important than people.
