Read again. The entire "hyper-sensitivity to "words"" part of this article was a parody. Those who would bust a gut to prevent losing an iota of the First Amendment (at least the freedom of speech and press aspects) are using the very same arguments you find ridiculous here as arguments against the Second Amendment - just substitute "firearms" for "words".
I rather enjoyed his quite apt expression of the hypocrisy prevalent in the argument today. But then; I am one of those who believes firmly in the Constitutional limitations on government and that We, the People have allowed it to be hijacked or ignored by supposedly intelligent folk who wish only to force us into their vision, rather than let us live our own.
