This is an excellent point. The idea that entitlement reform was going to be done during year ending "Fiscal Cliff" negotiations was laughable. Wouldn't it set a far better example to first identify a couple hundred billion in wasteful pork before going after grannies ss check? It's kind of like introducing a balanced budget amendment. It's a thousand times easier to pass a "budget" than a Constitutional Amendment, so if there were any desire to really Balance the budget-someone would propose one.
Until anyone gets serious about cutting a single dollar from its grotesquely bloated operating budget; these "budget fights" will remain useless political posturing.
